Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival, now in it’s 26th year, brings together students, faculty and staff to this enduring event every spring. Tasty food, onstage music, and carnival games are a part of the thrill of this annual event. It also may include the longest strawberry shortcake in the world! The event is open to the general public and is regularly held on La Guardia place, a little to the south of Washington Park. World Science Festival

The World Science Festival, hosted by New York University each June, brings a sequence of 50 activities and events over 5 days which feature sundry systematic disciplines starting from astronomy to neuroscience, genetics to robotics. in 1867 Dr. Emily Stowe founded the New York Medical College for Women. Dr. Susan McKinney Steward, a product of this school, was the first female physician in the USA and was the 1st African-American surgeon in the state of Manhattan.
