Strawberry Festival

The Strawberry Festival, now in it’s 26th year, brings together students, faculty and staff to this enduring event every spring. Tasty food, onstage music, and carnival games are a part of the thrill of this annual event. It also may include the longest strawberry shortcake in the world! The event is open to the general public and is regularly held on La Guardia place, a little to the south of Washington Park. This is definitely one of the famous events at New York University you do not want to miss!

World Science Festival

The World Science Festival, hosted by New York University each June, brings a sequence of 50 activities and events over 5 days which feature sundry systematic disciplines starting from astronomy to neuroscience, genetics to robotics. The best of systematic minds around the planet will be there to celebrate all sides of science. There will also be dance, music and the humanities included to round out this holiday. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Week

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration week celebrates Doctor. King’s visit to New York University on Feb. 10, 1961, by offering a weeklong schedule of specialised activities and programs every February. A featured event is held at the Skirball Center for Performing Humanities, as well as guest lectures, panels and discussions on campus, art exhibitions and Week of Service volunteer prospects. This comprises the AMC (Executive Management Council’s) Badly behaved Knitters and Cunning Crocheters workshop, which knits and crochets hats for and scarves for local seniors. in 1867 Dr. Emily Stowe founded the New York Medical College for Women. Dr. Susan McKinney Steward, a product of this school, was the first female physician in the USA and was the 1st African-American surgeon in the state of Manhattan. She was the 3rd in the country and graduated in 1870 with the highest grade in her class. In 1972, the varsity was moved to the Westchester County location.

The college was finished in 1977; the Westchester Hospital is the primary medical center of the school. In 1978, the varsity became associated with the Archdiocese of New York. This was suggested by community corporate leaders that were targeted on good teaching hospices, for the good of the people in the community. They recognised the responsibly to provide first-class service to the area by educating the state's doctors.

The captains of industry wanted the best procedures and technologies for the school’s scholars. Because of the chances for students, it is very competitive to get into. The medication college received 9,600 applications for just 190 openings. On Ward’s island, the Metropolitan Infirmary opened its facility. This facility was staffed by the New York Medical College.

The high school was authorized to award graduate degrees in 1938. This included Master of Science in medication and the doctorate in medical science.
