Nervousness about examination day is not unusual, and if you hate taking tests you’re not alone. It’s best to start your preparations early so you’ll have less things to worry about on test day.
The Need for Planning and Organisation
Test-taking jitters are typically caused by a sense of not being ready. Reviewing and studying the material will aid in avoiding that dreaded feeling. You definitely need to look over the course material for the examination.
Find out as much as you can about the exam. If your instructor did not cover this thoroughly class, ask which subjects will be tested, whether the exam will only be composed of multiple choice questions or whether there will be some essay questions, and how long you’ll be given to take the examination.
After you find out what the test is all about, planning your time to review vital material is the very next step. Trying to cram everything you’ll need to know the evening before the examination isn’t a brilliant idea. As an alternative split up the information into sections that are controllable and study one section regularly. You can remember it better and you will be more at ease when you walk into the exam room.
You will also want to organize the place you use for studying. Although many people would prefer a quiet atmosphere, others like hearing some noise in the background. Select a setting that works best for you.

Ensure you know where and when the test will be given. Pack your pencils, calculator and other test necessities into your back-pack before exam day. This’ll help you avoid being rushed the morning of the exam because you are searching for your supplies or the examination location. You will also avoid forgetting things which may cause even more stress when you arrive at the test site and realize this.
Relaxing with your fellow students the evening before the exam isn’t a smart idea. Just relax that evening and begin mentally preparing yourself. Read a simple funny comic or watch a good film. Take five from considering the examination. Have a light dinner and then get a good sleep.
The Day of the Exam
Get up early and have a good breakfast the day of the exam. If you eat the incorrect kind of food you will not have as much energy to take the test, so eat cheese, eggs, peanut butter or other protein foods for your breakfast that day. Keep away from foods with plenty of carbs or sugar. Drink a large amount of water, and bring a few bottles for when you get thirsty during the exam or the breaks.
Your attire should be comfortable and loose, and so should your shoes, because your complete body will hurt if your feet hurt. Get to the testing location early, and spend a short while picturing yourself knowing all the answers when you open up the examination booklet. Loosen up any tight muscles by shaking out your complete body and taking 1 or 2 deep breaths.
You’ll do fine if you know the material and you’re well prepared and rested. Just be assured and relaxed and do the best your are able to.
