Celebrity Wedding Trends In Todays Contemporary Society

In any specified year certain trends emerge among the rich and famous particularly when it comes to weddings. So what’s been ‘hot ‘ in 2012?

One surprising trend is a movement toward what might be called a country touch. When Natalie Portman married Benjamin Millepied they included a vegan banquet and wildflower seeds as favours. Accompanying that were wildflower decorations. Likewise Drew Barrymore kept it straightforward by hosting her wedding in a garden bursting with roses and other pink flowers.

We’ve also seen assorted celebrities going for the casual look at their wedding. Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Dawn Porter, as an example, wore tracksuits for their reception. Definitely comfortable (perhaps they're preparing to run from paparazzi). Jake Own and Lacey Buchanan went for shoes-off and khakis for their beach front marriage. Here’s hoping no sand got in the cake!

A 3rd trend in celebrity marriages can be described with one word: color, and masses of it. By far pink has been the new white this year. Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Gwen Stefani are 3 outstanding faces in the new colour trend. Having designers like Vera Wang bringing pink into her line actually doesn't hurt its renown. Also having magazines like Brides making the ‘Something Pink ‘ initiative for breast cancer research, and you have the perfect recipe for seeing pink for a couple more seasons. Mind you it is not just romantic pink making an appearance. We are seeing more and more wedding dresses in purple and red. Amber Tamblyn of General Hospice fame wore a sunny yellow dress for her marriage.

The 4th wedding trend among celebrities isn’t really anything new it just has not disappeared: the giant engagement ring. While meant to make a statement, a number of these rings look like mountains on tiny hands. Kim Kardashian received a diamond that weighed in at over 20 carats. Overcompensation did not seem to help that wedding, so perhaps less is truly better.

Ultimately it might appear that celebrity marriages are going to the dogs literally. Adam Sandler brought his bulldogs who walked up the aisle along with the remainder of the marriage party. Similarly Gavin Rossdale (Gwen Stafani’s partner) brought his sheepdog bearing the wedding band in a tote bag. Warning: this isn't an option that all locations support.

Mind you all these fashion statements don't mean that the modern bride can’t go back to standard white and sensible jewelry. The idea of a faster reception actually holds appeal from a budget perspective. In other words, take these ideas with a touch of suspicion. It is, in fact , your marriage and you can host it without the Hollywood bling and glam.
