This track and field is the oldest sports competition. Running and jumping is the most famous and common among other sports. In 776 BC, it is the first track and field game organized in Olympia, Greece. It only has five sports competition which are two type of throwing, long jump, running and wrestling. After it is held at Greece, this track and field sports spread to Rome in 200 BC. It starts to spread to northern Europe as well.

Track and field events are organized in schools and universities during year 1800s to train the students actively in sports activity. This event is popular during the Greek and Roman days but it slowly to get famous in English culture in the 1800s.The first track and field competition for universities is between Oxford University and Cambridge University in the year of 1864. It is modernly enhance the track and field sports event during the Olympic Games in 1896. In 1990s, track and field events have been widely introduced internationally.

There are growth in the track and field sports event with more participants joining in which are associates and leagues. The Olympic Games has athletics which can compete among themselves through the international and league games. The sports event continues to get wider and that is when the NCAA Championship was held in the year of 1921. A professional team was held during year 1970s. The purpose of this team is to form athletics to compete with each other and also for the athletics to get paid.
