One of the basic ways to purify water is to boil it, but this won’t be possible if you don’t have any power in your home. During the day time, you could use solar stilling, but if it’s storming in your area, then the sun likely won’t be shining enough for you to use this method.

Instead of relying on chemicals or natural means of purifying water, it’s best to have emergency filtration equipment to use instead. You can last a few days just by having simple equipment such as filtered water bottles or straws. You could use larger filtration systems if you needed clean water over a longer period of time.
