[Sorry ladies but being pregnant does not mean that you can raid the cake shop or McDonald's on a daily basis]. [In fact, it is quite the opposite as you don't need to eat more until the last trimester when your overall calorie intake will increase only by 200 calories a day]. ~petua untuk hamil

Then there is the big question of what food to eat in pregnancy and how not to gain weight. It has even become known that babies can taste what mum eats while they are in the womb as flavours from the mother’s diet are transmitted through amniotic fluid and mother’s milk while she is breast feeding and so baby learns to like a food’s taste when the mother eats that food on a regular basis.

I wish I had known this while I was pregnant as I had been wondering how my child had acquired such a desire for chocolate, at such a young age. I think it must have been from about the age of one that the first thing she would ask for in the morning was chocolate – maybe it had something to do with the fact that while I was pregnant my nightly ritual would be to go to bed early with my book, a bar of chocolate (usually a king size bar) and large mug of hot chocolate. [We didn't let her have chocolate for breakfast of course - but I'll give the girl her due, she had relentless persistence and still does to this very day]. ~petua untuk mengandung

During pregnancy and especially during the early symptoms of pregnancy when I felt sick all day long, I seemed to revert back to my child hood and craved foods like; fish fingers, baked beans and mashed potato; chicken nuggets, baked beans and mashed potato; soup and mashed potato, I even enjoyed mushy peas on toast on a very regular basis and lots and lots of chocolate. [No matter how hard I tried to eat healthily I just couldn't shake the craving for such foods]. I think I went through a phase in later pregnancy where I fancied blue berries and yogurt but this phase did not last long. I have never been a blue berry fan prior to being pregnant and have never been since.

[It is hard to control your cravings and at the same time know what to eat for pregnancy as there is so much to think about and it can all seem to get a little overwhelming but since reading that a baby can actually taste what you eat while they are in the womb I think I would have tried a little harder to curb my cravings and eat a little healthier, as it may have changed my child's eating habits because all she wants to eat, funnily enough, are really bland foods like chicken nuggets, fish fingers and mashed potato]. She will pick at the odd pea or runner bean from time to time but she isn’t very keen on baked beans though! ~ingin hamil
