Those who have joint pain, arthritis, and back troubles are known to benefit from resting on memory foam mattresses. They are available in a variety of sizes, such as single, king, super king, queen, among others. Double memory foam mattresses sometimes have one side that is more firm and another that is softer to accommodate the needs of partners sleeping together. Generally, memory foam mattresses have a 5 inch density.

When shopping for a memory foam mattress, there factors to think about. These tips will help you with getting the right one.

Temperature

Some memory foam mattresses are sensitive to temperature, but this feature is not a deal breaker. But it’s a nice feature to have since naturally they can get very warm, which is not comfortable especially in a warmer climate. So if you find one that is temperature sensitive, then you should strongly consider it. These mattresses will get softer when they gather heat, and are more firm when exposued to cooler environments.

Thickness

Another variable with memory foam mattresses is thickness, which refers to the total weight. There are a lot of opinions regarding how thick they should be. The rule of thumb however is to get one in the 5-6 pound range. Anything less than this is not enough to offer support to the hips, shoulders, and lower back. If it’s too thick, then there won’t be enough support either.

The top layer of the mattress also needs to have a proper amount of memory foam. The recommended amount is in the vicinity of 3.5 inches.

If the layer is not thick enough, then you will basically been lying down on polyurethane foam. This is not a comfortable surface to sleep on.

Price

The cheap pads and pillows are generally not very high quality. There are always exceptions, but typically they have low density memory foam or have layers that are filled with cheap foam. Lower quality means that it won’t be as comfortable.

By carefully researching the different memory foam mattresses available, you will be on your way to getting one that is comfortable for you.
