Ask any contractor or builder and they mostly will tell you the same thing: that among the biggest challenges of any construction project is acquiring the equipment needed. Among the challenges of course is deciding whether to invest in brand new or rent equipment such as a lifting machinery. There are many contractors that choose to rent or lease the equipment they need these days, and they have good reasons for doing so. Because of economic difficulties, there have been an influx of cost-efficient alternatives that allow builders to acquire the construction equipment they need for building projects; ergo, rental services. Here’s a comparison: a 26-foot, 1.26 meter wide scissor lift will cost about $25,000 – $27,000 brand new; renting the same scissor lift for a month costs a thousand dollars or so – sometimes even less, if you’re into the “shopping around” bit.

Doing the simple math, it’s clear that even if you rent the scissor lift for a year you would spend only half of what the machine will cost you brand new; heck, rent the machine for two years and you still spend only about $24,000 – you still saved two to three thousand dollars. In addition, rental companies can offer more than just affordability – they provide a convenient solution for contractors that are looking for ways to minimize headaches they will deal with throughout the project. A builder that works with companies offering pickup truck rental and other equipment do not have to worry about getting everything on the site. It is the responsibility of the rental company to promptly deliver the rented equipment to the location, on the dated and time that the client specified. After the rental agreement is done and if the client did not inform the rental company ahead of time regarding any extensions, they will pick up the equipment form the sites.

Renting equipment however is only practical if you would not use the machinery for more than sixty to seventy percent of the time. So before you consider truck leasing services at HertzEquip, you need to look into the length of time you are going to use the equipment for your site. If you need construction equipment for more than three months, consider leasing them or buy brand new units (there are refurbished units available if you cannot afford buying brand new) especially if you have construction projects lined up after one another for the next five or so years. Always consider the long term needs you have when you are trying to choose equipment rentals or buying brand new units.
