One of the most favorable cameras being launched last September is definitely OM-D E-M1 from Olympus.  This is the second model in Olympus’s OM-D series and extends the range further into semi-pro as well as enthusiast territory.  Compared to its predecessor, which is OM-D E-M5, this newly-launched has a more sophisticated autofocus system and a ‘buttons for everything’ design approach.

At the end of last September Panasonic stunned the world’s camera market by introducing Lumix DMC-GM1 (or just call it GM1).   This pocketable camera features the same Micro Four Thirds mount that its much larger Olympus and Panasonic siblings have been using for years, but at introduction will be sold with a specially designed 12-32mm F3.5-5.6 kit zoom sporting a smaller diameter. 

In order not to be rivaled by all of its competitors, Sony also announced its important movements facing this year-end.  Held in the famous London’s City Hall, Sony Camera Inc. introduces its two latest cameras from its Alpha series: Sony a7 and a7R.  Both of these exciting products are full-frame interchangeable lens cameras and are about the same size as the Olympus OM-D E-M1.

Eventhough Sony a7 and a7R are much smaller than any other full-frame interchangeable lens camera, they are identical in terms of design, with the main differences being their sensors and autofocus systems. The A7 features a full-frame 24 megapixel CMOS, while the A7R has a 36 megapixel CMOS sensor with no optical low-pass filter. The A7 uses a Hybrid AF system (using on-chip phase detection), while the A7R has traditional contrast detection.

If you rush to camera store right now and insist to buy a7 or a7R you will be disappointed.  You will not be able to find both of the cameras in stores since a7 and a7R has not been marketed by the manufacturer.  They will be launched early next December but you can, and you are highly recommended, to pre-order it.  Why you need to do so it’s because those camera, especially the a7R, are the highly anticipated cameras this year-end.  To guarantee that you get the camera on the date it is released, there’s no other way for you but to pre-order.
