The small plastic device that we see in our garage is called the garage door sensors and it uses infrared beans and radio signals to monitor and control the operation of the garage door. These are made of electronic devices to monitor the operation of the garage door. You can find the sensors along the garage door or to the rails of the door.

Usage of Garage Door Sensors

Every homeowner can have a peace of mind in the use of their garage because garage door sensor provides all the necessary safety measures and monitoring device to avoid any accident. These sensors work automatically in stopping the opening or closing of the door should there be any obstructions in it.

We all know that a for a sensor to be considered as safe should have the ability to bring to an end the power of a closing door and changes its direction to the opposite way. In this aspect, anyone or anything for that matter would be able to be saved from being crushed down by the carport door. Sensors can also serve as an alerting device especially if the door is not closed. This will give the homeowner a feeling of comfort with all the security and safety ways they need to enjoy.

Two Kinds of Sensors

1. Safety Sensor – This is the major kind of sensor by which it is legally required to all the garage doors that have been produced after January, 1991. Along the side of the garage door and on the rails we find these two part sensors that are mounted in it six inches away from the garage floor. An infra red ray is likewise stretched out from one sensor to the other. This is to keep away anybody or any element from being crashed down because once the beam detects that there is something wrong, it will automatically stops and reverses back. On the base of the door we also notice that it is equipped with pressure sensors.

2. Battery Operated Sensor- The 2nd type of sensor that is installed on the garage door. The sensor works by delivering a signal to a monitor device that was placed inside the home. If the garage door is not closed properly, a signal will be delivered to the monitor by the sensor. Every homeowner will be alerted in their own homes anytime because for a more intricate sensor this will enable the car port door to close mechanically with an audio warning signs in it.
