My sister’s name is Debbie and her husband’s name is Paul. They have been husband and wife for over twelve years now and are very much in love. They have been trying for a baby ever since they became husband and wife but it was just not happening for some reason.

I am not all that sure of the specific tests that they had or about any other underlying health issues that may have affected things. It is not really the kind of questions or information that a brother asks his older sister etc.

What I do know however is that they did go and see a consultant gynaecologist who was located in their local city and that they were very impressed with the service that they received. Well I suppose they would be now that it has resulted in Debbie becoming pregnant!

I personally think that something else which helped Debbie and Paul was their overall attitude to life. As an example they remained very positive throughout the many years of frustration. They continued to believe that Debbie would one day conceive and that they had to remain patient until “God was ready” – these were Paul’s words. They were even thinking of looking down the egg donation route.

As I am sure you can imagine both my sister and her husband are over the moon with the news and I am confident that they will make excellent parents.

If you are having problems with conceiving then my advice would be two fold; firstly to seek expert help by making an appointment with a consultant gynaecologist or a fertility consultant and secondly that you continue to think positive throughout the process.
