When there are children involved, the case becomes even more difficult.  Custody and financial support will need to be determined, which are always two fiery topics.  A lawyer suitable for you will have experience in cases that have children involved.

As with any service, you will need to find out about the associated fees.  Some cost less than $100 an hour, but the best typically charge upwards of $500 per hour.  Make sure that you can afford the fees.

Their fee should be one of the first things you inquire about.  Some lawyers require that you pay a retainer upfront.  You’ll also need to find out the fee schedule so you’ll know exactly when you’ll be expected to pay.  You certainly don’t want to stiff a lawyer out of his or her payment.
