It’s the time of year again that grass can really start to have issues, at least in certain parts of the country. With such powerful heat waves, grass can often start to die of excess heat. But there are plenty of other common grass issues that can afflict a lawn that could strike any time across the year. No one likes to walk outside to a big dead patch. Diagnosing lawn problems properly can really help bring your lawn back to life.

The biggest lawn ailment is poor soil. This is the bane of any weak and dying plant. That and shortage of water. If your lawn is planted in bad soil or if you aren’t watering enough, you’ll find your grass growing in thin and patchy. Work out a better watering schedule and try to find techniques of fertilizing more.

Another of the largest grass maladies out there is rabbits. Rabbits can ravage a lawn, eating one patch of grass down to the nubs and killing it before moving on. Rabbits are not grazers who run around a lot on a lawn. Conversely, they frequently stay in one spot, generally a spot where they suspect they will be well placed to leave quickly from danger.

Pet urine can also be the source of a large amount of Issues. If your lawn is dying in even, circular patterns, you may have a pet that has staked out your grass as a preferred area to mark their territory. Even if you do not have a dog of your own, you may have a neighbor who walks their dog on your street each week who lets their dog use your lawn as a pit stop.

A last lawn killer are grubs and worms that live beneath the surface. These grubs consume the roots of the lawn and will at last lead it to fully die. If you can pull up clumps of your lawn with little effort, that’s to say, if there aren’t roots left on the end of your dying lawn, then you might want to invest in some grub poison. Even dead lawn will generally still be somewhat hard to pull up. The roots will continue to be intact. Hope these tips help.

Common grass problems can take an otherwise healthy lawn and make it into an ugly eye sore. If your lawn is really not in good shape though, you might want to consider laying sod.
