But, as the seller discovered, so called professional inspectors are not perfect. After the ‘thorough inspection, the inspectors who had been recommended by the real estate agent could find only a few minor things wrong like a possible tiny leak at the gas valve of the furnace, plus a few loose roof shingles and a defective window crank. The seller hired a furnace repairman the very next day, and got his furnace double checked. In order to satisfy his doubt, he called an inspector from the gas company and he even refused the presence of a leak. But the repairman could not find any leak.

 

As days passed by, the seller contracted a buyer for the house and employed a contractor to inspect the house. Now the contractor made an in-depth analysis and found out that the house was bolted according to 1955 standards. The American Society of Home Inspectors or ASHI increases the standards for its members making them a better inspector and they also have to pass strenuous tests and go on supervised inspections.
