- Easy to clean and maintain. Carpet tiles are effortless to clean and maintain because they come in sections. You just have to vacuum it twice or thrice a week (depending on the frequency of floor traffic) to keep it clean. A shampoo designed purposely for carpets can also be used. The nice thing about carpet tiles is when drinks or food is accidentally spilled onto it. You just need to take out the affected carpet tile, wash it with soap and water, dry it properly, and put it back to where you got it. Stain and dirt removal is simple and does not require you to employ the services of a professional carpet cleaner or to remove the entire carpet.
- Create unique designs. The wide diversity of textures and colours gives you the freedom to design your carpet lay-out in the way that is uniquely your own. You can lay out the carpet tiles according to the pattern or design that you want. The lay-out of a carpet tile can be changed if you are getting tired of how it now looks. You can exchange a couple of tiles or even the entire set for a whole new look.
- Durability. Carpet tiles, even second hand carpet tiles, are quite durable and can withstand the wear and tear caused by floor traffic as long as you take good care of them just like you would a regular carpet.
The cons:
- Frayed and loose edges. A carpet tile might look great at the beginning or when it is fairly new but you should be aware that the edges can get easily frayed as time passes by. Poor quality carpet adhesives are of no help in preventing loose and frayed edges. The occurrence of loose and frayed carpet tile edges can be avoided by using a good quality carpet tile adhesive.
- Deformed tiles The variety of carpet tiles include texture and base materials. The base made of rubber are typically used for cheap carpet tiles. If your carpet tiles does have a rubber base, remember that they can become disfigured in the long term. One cause of disfigurement is leaving a wet carpet tile out in the sun to dry for too long. Avoid the tile from becoming disfigured by removing it from the sun’s rays as soon as it is dry.
