For an all day Houston art galleries journey, visit what is commonly known as Gallery Row. This art studio mecca is located between Colquett and Lake Street in central Houston. Gallery Row hosts 9 separate but unique art studios. For contemporary art, visit Goldesberry Gallery. Thonrwood Gallery is the latest addition to Gallery Row, featuring diverse classes of painting and housing a unique sculpture exhibit.
First Saturday Art Market
While not a gallery in the regular sense, a true art enthusiast in Houston should not miss the weekly First Saturday Art Market held at 548 West 19th Street the first Saturday of the month from May through October. For $70, any area artist can register 10 days in advance to hold an art studio of their work. Artists desiring a spot need to register online before the art market. Their site states that not all sorts of art are represented and the market focuses specifically on contemporary and fine arts in Houston.

Harris Studio
Harris Gallery is located at 1100 Bissonnet Street. The museum specializes in landscape, still life and figurative art work. The studio also hosts a must see sculpture exhibit. Jerry and Katherine Alexander are featured landscape artists, with Jerry concentrating on stream scenes and Katherine on sky scapes. 80 artists are featured in still life, while the less well-known art genre of figurative work features 18 artists. The studio homes sculptures from artists like Jim Burling, Paula Van Bavel Kerney and Bill Barnett.
McClain Gallery
This gallery features art from not simply the United States, but Europe as well. McClain’s areas of concentration include paintings, sculptures, photography, conceptual pieces and works on paper such as charcoal drawings. Thirty-three artists are represented at the gallery. While visiting the gallery, be sure and peruse the new age sculpture designs by Fletcher Benton. Giles Lyon’s art work includes the utilising of sumi ink on paper and acrylic paints on canvas.
